Description

This course provides a comprehensive review of diagnosis and treatment for advanced endometriosis.  It covers three of the most complex aspects of endometriosis that providers face: Rectovaginal disease, invasive bowel disease, and imaging diagnosis for advanced disease. Video and detailed anatomy charts will provide the minimally invasive surgeon with concepts and tools to improve their practice. This course will demonstrate high-quality evidence, imaging, video, and discussion to guide surgical choices, multidisciplinary teamwork, and surgical excellence in the care of endometriosis treatment. We will review the latest information on diagnosis and treatment of abdominal wall endometrioma. The course will challenge a paradigm in which endometriosis is treated as a simple condition requiring only a short diagnostic procedure with simple ablation and encourage participants to expand their skillset to tackle more advanced disease.

Learning Objectives: After attending this session, the participant will be able to: 1) Incorporate a multidisciplinary approach to invasive endometriosis involving the bowel, diaphragm or thoracic cavity; 2) Implement essentials for use of imaging in identifying and diagnosing rectovaginal and bowel endometriosis; and 3) Explore options for treatment of abdominal wall endometrioma.
